Bundle Types

Bundle Builder offers two options for Bundle Type, giving you choice over how you want individual products in bundle orders to be processed and fulfilled.

Below is a detailed breakdown of the differences in the two types.

If you have any questions please contact our support team at support@agile.haus and they will answer any of your queries.

1. Single SKU bundle

A bundle product is created by the app and shown in the cart, order emails, and Orders section of your store as a single product. The contents of each bundle sale are listed as 'line item properties'. This is great for merchants who:

  • Want to have a unique SKU for their bundle product
  • Are fulfilling their own orders and not using any 3rd party fulfilment apps
  • Want to use discount codes with their bundles
  • Are already utilising an app that uses draft orders

2. Multiple SKU bundle

A bundle product is created by the app with the contents of each bundle sale added as separate products to the checkout (and orders) section. This type is good for:

  • Merchants who use 3rd party inventory and fulfilment companies
  • Merchants who drop ship their products
  • Merchants who need the bundle order data to transfer to 3rd party apps

Table of features

Here is a detailed walkthrough of all of the differences between multiple and separate products.  You can use both types of bundle on your store if necessary.

Feature 1. Single SKU bundle 2. Multiple SKU bundle
Requires manual installation steps No Yes - there are 10 simple installation steps to follow.
Uses Shopify’s  draft orders functionality No Yes

Please note:
  • You can only use one app on your store that uses draft orders. If you already have an app using draft order functionality you will not be able to use this bundle type
  • You can’t use draft orders with Shopify discount codes
  • Direct payments (like Paypal button) from the cart page won't work. This is because Paypal button on the cart page skips the DraftOrder step and the bundle won't be split into the products.
Creates a bundle product with a unique url in the Product section of your admin Yes

  • Allows you to link directly to your bundle in social media and for promotions

  • Allows you to link directly to your bundle in social media and for promotions
Creates variants Yes - this way creates a variant each time a bundle configuration is purchased.

Please note

  • You are limited to 100 variants per product (a Shopify limitation) and therefore when bundle purchases exceed 100 different configurations, a duplicate bundle product is created. For more information please visit: Variants explained

  • No variants, other than one default variant that is created when the bundle is created
  • No duplicate products
Inventory is synced Yes
  • If you have 'Shopify tracks this products inventory" selected for your products then the app will automatically sync your inventory. Inventory will be taken away when products are purchased and added back on if the order is cancelled.
  • The app doesn't do any inventory manipulation - the products are added to orders in the usual way, so your Shopify store will handle inventory itself.
Works with 3rd party fulfilment apps Some

  • 3rd party apps need to be able to read line item properties to be able to transfer bundle contents or configure the Shopify admin API to read bundle contents in a metafield. You can find more information here: Transfer bundle contents

  • The products within the bundle are transferred in Shopify orders as separate products so 3rd party fulfilment and drop shipping companies can process the bundle orders as usual products.
Works for pre-set bundles Yes Yes
Works for fixed price bundles where products are all $0 Yes Yes
Can set a unique SKU for your bundle product Yes No
Can choose whether you require shipping for the bundle or not Yes No

  • Shipping is not relevant when using this bundle type as shipping will be determined by the individual product settings in your Shopify admin.
